Thanks Periapex. I've got the bite sensitivity and a little achiness, which has gone down quite a bit. I ate nachos two days after the procedure, so it's probably mostly my fault. I took some prescription pain meds last couple days and now its just irritating.

If it flares up again or doesn't go away soon, I'll contact my dentist about the antibiotics.

The vast majority of root canal procedures leave patients with some bite sensitivity and achiness for about a week afterwards. Over-the-counter anti-inflammatory painkillers are usually enough.

Cases that flare up severely after treatment are often cases with preoperative infection. The flareup can be thought of as a secondary infection (not exactly true, but still a good way of viewing the problem). Flare ups like that usually require a dose of antibiotics and stronger painkillers.

Once on the antibiotics, acute, persistent pain (past a week or two), should be checked out -- ideally by an endodontist.

No pain with mine either. Maybe they didn't take out the nerve?

Nice compliments for women Cory but men are really cool too. They are warriors and protectors. They are problem solvers and providers. They reach up high and bend down low. They are strong yet can be very gentle. Men make women feel more beautiful than they probably are just because the men see their beauty inside and out. Men are awesome. I wouldn't trade them for anything!!!

Gonna have to agree with Jia. I had two root canals weeks apart. I have always heard the horror stories and I HATE dentists to begin with. Neither one of mine had any pain. I would rather have a root canal on every tooth then have to sit through a routine cleaning.

You might wanna check into a dentist that was trained in interrogation techniques before dental school.

Cory, being in the dental field as I am and have been for the last 19/20 years, I can honestly tell you that having a root canal should not leave you in agony. Having a root canal (done by a qualified doctor) should have you feeling just fine, and certainly not in any pain whatsoever. I'd be looking for another dentist.

You need to get another dentist.
I have had, unfortunately, two root canals and did not experience pain at all. True!

I think you're just talking about the pain to milk the sympathy from your sweet wife. Nice move!
