Marriage Advice From A Man
10 Oct
Today is my 28th birthday. I’m still a kid. It’s amazing to me that anyone listens to me at all, to be perfectly honest.
What do husbands want for their birthdays? I can think of a few things that most guys probably want;
whatever kind of food that’s bad for him & doesn’t usually get to eat, a happy wife, happy kids, a little party, some cake & ice cream, a power tool of some sort, a call from his mother, a day off from chores, a day off of work, co-workers who care, little happy birthday surprises that he would never ask for, a flat screen tv, a dremmel tool, cookies, a drill press, a hug from his kids, those little hand made cards that kids make with macaroni and elmer’s glue…
A little appreciation. We’re not terribly hard to please. Even though we don’t ask for it, we all just need a little appreciation. Thanks, ladies.
Oh, and for those of you who want to wish me a happy birthday, go for it - but if you could do one more thing, it would be greaty appreciated. Notice the picture of Dick Van Dyke on the right? It’s there because of the HusbandsandDads.com traffic referral contest. Do me a favor and click on over, read about the contest, and participate, if you have a website. We’re giving away free stuff…

hey!!!
happy b’day!!!
I’m 28 too… and used find it VERY amusing to see people listening to me at 20… and well… some that hated me because I was younger, earned more and bossed over them…
good for the ego…
Now… well.. I’ve settled down…

Wishing you many happy returns of the day!
Ironically, and speaking for myself, I don’t fall into the same category as you do for ‘wants for birthday’ presents. I would just assume go about my business like it was any other day. So much so, few people even *know* when my birthday is, outside of my wife kids (and my parents and brothers, natch).
It’s not something connected with getting older (I am a dozen or more years older than you are): this started in my mid 20s. The hugs from the family are enough, thanks.

Happy Birthday!
It’s my mom’s birthday too.
anyway, I have two words for birthday gift……
More Tools!…..even better with power!
BTW, have you seen Fireproof?
I’d like to hear your comment on the movie.
Happy birthday, man! I completely agree with the “happy wife, happy kid” part, too. For whatever reason, everything else seems to fall into place if they’re both content. Hope you have a good one.

I agree–at 36, I’m happy with a homemade pizza, a day out at the park with the kids, and a few beers with my wife while watching my favorite movie after the kids go to sleep. Parties? Presents? Nah–I’m not a kid anymore.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
Yaaa Power tools. I cause more damage than good with them but their FUN.

Nice to know. My hub’s BD is coming up soon. Now I have some ideas! I think I’ll get him…..the power tools?….the flat screened TV?…..No I have it! I’ll give him what you liked the most….appreciation!
I’ll tell him you told me what to give him!
PS He wants the power tool. He says with that he can earn appreciation! or at least respect! he he he.
Happy Birthday Cory! Oh to be 28 again. My oldest child is 28 and asking him what he wants for his Birthday always includes video games. For Christmas this year he’s asked for the Nintendo Wii Fit. Go figure. After sitting on his behind playing video games he’s put on a few pounds.
Have a great Birthday and save us all some cake!

Hey Cory -
Happy Belated Birthday! I joined the forum. I subscribed to your site. That’s about all you’ll get from me by way of presents. However, I will add one more essential item to your wish list that you left off: duct tape. A man can’t do without it. I look forward to following your site.
Happy Birthday Cory! I hope it was a fun day and weekend for you!

Ha ha ha the stuff you said for getting your husband is most definately true! I’m glad to because my husband is a simple man(thank god!) And it really helps to know that most of the suggestions you gave sounded like he would love it!
Thank you!!
