My husband and I have been together 3yrs and even before I got with him he was on the X box all day everyday, He wakes up between 2 - 4 pm and goes straight on the Xbox and doesnt come off untill 3-4 in the morning so no wonder he gets up late, he says as he has Fybromyalgia he needs to be in bed but he could sit down stairs with me and our 18 month old daughter, he hardly spends any time with us and we never go out, he says its due to his illness but I know its because he wants to play his Xbox, I really feel like throwing it out the window, I have told him hes addictid but he will not listen and says its the only way to escape pain hes in

JB sounds like at least you and your wife have recognized the potential problems that could occur. My husband and I have been going to marriage counceling and the xbox addiction is a big issue in our sessions that we have discussed. The councelor says that it is not my responsibility to monitor how much he plays and that if he wants to be the kind of person that play 24/7 than I just need to decide on whether or not that's the kind of person I want to be with.

Prior to counceling we had a schedule of when he would play. we agreed that any morning until 11am and one night a week from 6pm-9pm was his free playing time. Unfortunatley, he began waking up in the middle of the night to play until 11am and then would be so exhausted that once I woke up and was ready to start the day he was too tired to do anything.

So something to keep in mind if you and your wife agree on playing times...

I have been away from video games for nearly 90 days now. I have learned a few things. Games are just what they are games. In and of themselves no evil. But when players allow them to dominate day to day living it becomes a problem. My wife and i are planing to purchase a xbox and have laid ground rules. She is my accountability partner in the process. No need for applause or pat on the back. I am just a voice saying that games can be addicting and that ballance is needed. Schedule a start and stop time to play vs. having a free play session.

i HAVE READ ALL THE COMMENTS ABOUT GAMING ADDITION. AS FAR AS iM CONCERNED THE XBOX IS NO DIFFERENT THAN HAVING THE OUIJA BOARD IN THE HOUSE AND GETTING IN TOUCH WITH EVIL SPIRITS, THE REASON I MAKE THIS COMPARESON IS BECAUSE IT STORTS OFF SLOW AND SNOW BALLS OUT OF CONTROL. MY HUSBAND PLAYS THIS ALL THE TIME. HE GOES TO WORK AT 9AM COMES HOME AT 1PM AND STARTS PLAYING. i GET HOME AT 6PM HE IS STILL PLAYING TELLING ME HE WILL BE OFF SOON. SOMETIMES THAT MEANS 9PM OR LATER. HE WAKES UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND PLAYS FOR HOURS MISSING SLEEP. HE TURNS DOWN WORK AND SOCIALIZING WITH FRIENDS THAT COME OVER, NO, LIFE IS NOT PERFECT AND ITS GETTING WORSE. IM AT A LOSE AND DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO. WE ARE STARTING MARRIAGE CLASSES THIS WEEK, IF HE SHOWS UP. THIS IS OUT OF CONTROL AND I NEDD HEPL/ADVICE

My husband and I have been married for over three years and his xbox addiction has become a very serious problem in our relationship. I have nearly left him on several occations. And our sex life has suffered as well.
I can only pray that he wakes up and realizes what it is doing to his life.
